Meet my BJDs
The dolls here on my website are ball jointed dolls, also known as BJDs. The first BJDs came out in the early 2000. They are usually hand sculpted and cast of resin by very talented and skilled craftsmen mostly in China, Korea and Japan. Some BJDs come these days also from Europe and America. I also have a couple of American vinyl BJDs and BJD hybrids that I love just as much as my regular resin dolls.
These dolls are fully customizable. BJD companies produce them in blank versions without clothes, eyes, hair, lashes or face painting, and very often owners then customize these art dolls to their liking. Face painting, known as face-ups, can usually be bought from companies, but they also offer full sets with all the elements included. Some dolls only come in very limited editions. Their body parts are changable and fantasy parts such a horns or hooves can be added to a doll, because the doll's body parts are strung together with elastic strings, which also allows for a good range in posing. The doll prices most often climb up from 100USD to thousands, depending on the size, level of customization and such.
My dolls are from various different BJD companies. Not all of my dolls are full dolls, but I have a selection of different types of bodies and many separate heads for most of them. Often the heads and bodies are also interchangable. This way I get a lot of variety. One doll can change endlessly with different stylings and by changing the body, hair, eyes etc. My 1/3 dolls range in size from 57cm to 70cm. The 1/4 scale dolls are 38-45cm and my tiny dolls 10-26cm.
