New skintones

Impldoll seems to have renewed some of their skintones. The 2013 skintone chart does not seem to be quite accurate anymore. I ordered a year apart both my Gladiator Gnaeus (autumn 2013) and my Tdelia on Star girl body (autumn 2014) in their normal than. I was a bit surprised to discover they were not the same skintone at all. My Tdelia is a lot darker and the resin seems more translucent. I asked Impldoll about this and they told me my Tdelia's tan is their new normal tan. I had been hoping to have a same skintone companion for my Gnaeus, and Impldoll did offer to make me a new Tdelia, but as I do quite like this new tan, I told them I was ok with it.

I love the fact that Impldoll offers a wide range of skintones, but it would be great though if they would update their skintone chart, so that others don't end up with similar surprises. I'm a bit hesitatious to order tan anymore as I don't quite know how this new tan differs from say the special anti-UV tan. I've also read reports of the special anti-UV real skin having changed. I'm, and I think many BJD hobbyists are, very particular about the skintones my dolls come in and it's a bit unnerving ordering something sight unseen. This was one of the reasons I ordered now my Chad and Adela in white. I thought that should be somewhat safe to get.

The new tan on my Tdelia was also very shiny. I had to do several MSC layers to get it mattened, which I've never needed to do with my other Impl dolls. I certainly wish Impldoll would be able to reduce the shine of the resin or at least treat the dolls with a matting agent already before shipping. The new tan itself is pretty gorgeous. It's browner and darker than the older one. Once sprayed with MCS it photographs beautifully and creates this illusion of a really soft and silky skin.
