Collaborations!!!
This past week, my dear friend Looloo* (a BJD hobbyist from the other side of the globe) and I joined our forces in creating virtual meets with our dolls. I have been good friends with Looloo for 2 years now and we've been sharing this hobby through first DeviantArt and later our Flickr photostreams. We're both equally into BJDs and photography. I've often regretted being so far away from her and not being able to see her and her dolls in person. Last week however, we found a way to bring a new level to our virtual "playtime". Looloo proposed that we should try to combine some of our photos to create a meeting between our dolls. The results of our experiment surpassed my wildest dreams!
With very little planning, with only a theme and the dolls selected, we stormed onto to taking photos of our dolls each in our own corners of the world. I first posed my doll in front of one of my canvas backdrops and then e-mailed Looloo the raw unedited versions. Looloo, being a wizard at editing photos, managed to take matching photos of her dolls and edit them amazingly seamlessly into the original image, thus allowing our dolls to interact and us to create a story around them. Each project was complete in less than 24h which surprised us both!
Our first collaboration was with Looloo's fantastically customized voodooman (Ringdoll Frankenstein) doll named Krius and my new boy grey Mirodoll Rain. The second joined effort included my Impldoll Idol Filraen in his elf form and Looloo's beautiful Fairyland Feeple65 Chloe named Nova (in the picture here). You can find all our project photos in the new Visitor's gallery section of this website.
This was one of the most inspiring and fun doll photography projects I've done to date and I certainly hope repeat this experience yet again with my talented friend! :)
