He's finally here! The long awaited Nelson. It's been quite the struggle bringing this boy home. First I missed out on him with the Impldoll limited sale. He sold out so much faster than I had anticipated that I was somewhat forlorn when I came to the realisation. Well, Impldoll would not sell me his head separately, so I had to start hunting for him on the secondary market. I figured that my real skin Idol body might accommondate a real skin Nelson head and he would look almost like himself.

Well, after months of keeping an eye on the sales, I eventually found a real skin Nelson head early March on the DoA marketplace and did a head trade with an American hobbyist. Nelson journey home was a bumby one however. First his take off was slowed down by wrong labels and snow blizzards at the US end. He spend a week stuck in NY, then in London, then in the Finnish customs and after a month he finally arrived home... IN THE WRONG COLOUR!!! He was not real skin like the sales ad had said, but he was clearly pink skintone. My trade partner explained they had not known about their mistake. At that point, I was pretty heartbroken. His head does not work with the real skin Idol body I have obviously and I cannot afford to buy the new Star body for him in pink skintone.

I tried him on all the different companies bodies I had, but either the skintones were way off or the neck junction did not work. The closest match I could find was my Dollzone Raymond's 70cm body. Well, shape ways it's about as far from the original idea for Nelson as I could possibly imagine, so I had to really re-think him all over again. He has a completely different air about him, but I'm slowly starting to accept it that this is what my Nelson is going to look like. I mean, he's still Nelson, the sculpt I wanted, even if he's not quite the way I had expected.

I did Nelson's face-up yesterday and tried to at least get the face-up looking a bit like the original, to have some of that feel right. I've added the face-up photos in my works gallery. I also did a face-up on my Soren (impdoll Sophia male). I made it kind of "too pretty" on purpose, and I wanted him to look a bit cunning and a slight bit mean even. I subdued the pouty lips and gave him golden tones for eyebrows and lashes. He will get extra fantasy ear parts soon to go with his unearthly look.

ANOTHER BIT OF NEWS:

Mirodoll has asked to use some of my photos of my Rain on their website! I'm thrilled they liked them, so I of course said yes. They've already uploaded some of them on their Rain sales page! :)
