Making of The Crossbow

I've been collaborating on doll props again with my crafty dad. I needed to do little persuasion when proposing we make a crossbow for my 70+ scale dolls, mostly my Idol guys. Dad was on board before I had time to show him the sketches. I guess this appeals to the rascal little boy in him. Hehe! Not only did he carve the crossbow from wood before I could blink an eye, but he managed to make it an actually working miniature weapon that has a dart shooting range of 8 metres. We used a medieval design for it and I made some darts from a long strip of wood, sharpened them and carved the tips. Now I've started the staining, using oak tone. For the dart tips, I'm using enamel steel paint and I'm also colouring the metallic parts of the crossbow with it. I'm also making a wooden cain for my BJD wizards.
I have a couple of skirts of sew, some Mirodoll heads to do face-ups for and my Impldoll Chad/Adela is now at the Finnish customs and I should get them in my hands this week! :) Heading off to folk music festivals next weekend and hoping to gains some inspiration there fro both music and dolls!
