The Beast is here!!!
My Beast version of Impldoll Idol Limited Loss of Brilliance Chad has just gotten his first photo shoot! Last weekend I simultaneously did the face-ups of both human and beast Chads, so that they could be the different sides of the same man. The beast head was definitely a challenge, and I was not completely comfortable working with the white resin either (lack of practice and it just looks so darn pure, I feel like any stain would show horribly well). In the end, I was quite pleased with the duo. I realize my shortcomings in the blushing sections and went with a minimalistic approach. I used only slight grey to highlight the natural shadows that the sculpt itself already had.
I must confess, I was somewhat baffled at first about the molded hair. Being so used to wigs on BJDs, this just looked strange to me and I kept trying to think of how to rig up a wig on him. LOL! But after this photo shoot, I decided that I'm just going to embrace him as the kind of doll that he is. I have tons of those kind of dolls that take wigs, so he's my peculiarity, that something else, and the hair is sculpted so beautifully that is would be a shame to cover it. :)
Here's a profile shot and a full body shot of my Beast Chad. I made his outfit already back last March, but it's still missing some pieces: weapon harnesses, armguards, belts and shoulder armour thingies (don’t know what those are called). My dad and I collaborated on that crossbow of his last summer. He also has a full white outfit for the winter, which is also still a work in process.
Here you can see how my beast and human Chad heads look side by side:
