Presentations
Pondering upon how to present my case here. I still vaguely recall having made the promise to not buy any more dolls for now and to just concentrate on other aspects of this hobby (after some frustrating purchase experiences as well as due to the…what we would already call…great numbers in dolls that I’m dealing with). However, I have broken that promise! I did!!!! I bought more dolls!!
Ok, here’s how it all came about. I got an Azalea head in pink as freebie gift with my Chad last July as a compensation, I presume, for the 5 month long wait. Well, I tried my darnest to match that head with the girl bodies I have, but turns out it really is quite the poor match with any of them. Either the resin match is off, or the head sinks too low on the neck or the head is too big for the body or too small… Well, reluctantly I came to the conclusion that if I want to make use of that gorgeous Azalea head, I’ll have no choice but to buy a body for it from Impldoll. Clever they are there at Impl!! They send heads for the clients as compensations and gifts, luring then people to buy bodies for those noggins! Well, Azalea is an Idol girl, but that 70cm Idol body is MASSIVE. I could NOT imagine myself getting that one. Luckily they have the new Star girl body, at 64cm - I figured I could handle it. I don’t like it much though. The arms put me off the most. I like my girls slender and feminine, not like Amazonian weightlifters, but as Impldoll released the new bust size options, I thought I might be able to get the new Star body with the small bust to work for my girl. So, pop and the new Star body in pink with the small bust jumped into the cart.
Well, turned out Impldoll opened their 6th anniversary event at the same time: “spend 330USD and you’ll get a free baby doll”. Aaaaahhhh!! How to resist that?! Well, my will power is very weak. I couldn’t. So, I needed to add a little something to make that 330USD. I noticed Bernice with the new Star body happens to cost EXACTLY that 330USD. Well, well, well!! What better way to make that limit! So, Bernice jumps into the cart. At the end of the shopping spree, I also had in my cart a Vanessa head in pink for the same Star body, a white resin Tank head to share my Chad’s body and of course the free Event baby. I chose Aiden in his fantasy form for that. So, I’ve got 2 new full dolls and 2 new heads on the way in a blink of an eye. There’s no trusting me. For as long as I have a spare square inch in the house, it will be filled with a doll.
Here’s my Impldoll loot (photos by Impldoll used with permission):
On another front, I’ve been thinking on presentations... Mirodoll asked me to style, customize and take new photos for their website a half a year ago. Granted, the presentation of the dolls on their website was indeed somewhat… simplistic. I worked hard on their dolls and photos all spring and summer, but Mirodoll does not seem to be in a hurry to upload them onto their website. Obviously friends and family who know I’ve worked on the photos keep asking me every now and then, well are they there yet? Are the pics viewable? Did they use them? Well, I just have to say, no, no not yet. I’m not sure why the delay. They seemed pleased with the photos I took. I’ve tried to ask them about the delay, but they just told me they will add them “little by little” there.
I would’ve thought Mirodoll would been eager to finally present their dolls dressed up in nice clothes and posing in various ways in nice sceneries, instead of the naked doll just standing there with a plain background like they are now presented on the Mirodoll website. Here's just an example. These are obviously not the photos I took for Mirodoll, but just some I took of Thunder for fun, but you can see the difference a nice styling makes perhaps from these:
I tried so very hard to make their dolls look as beautiful as I possibly could. I’m totally in love my Mirodoll gang and love photographing them even for just my own amusement. They have such potential that is not very evident from the photos that Mirodoll uses on their website. I’m just puzzled as to why Mirodoll is choosing not to make use of the photos I’ve provided them with. I’ll have to admit, it’s disappointing, as I was so excited about being able to take part in such a project and it would’ve been so rewarding to see the work actually used too. Oh well… perhaps they have their reasons, even if they’re not willing to share them with me. :(
