Meet my Eastern Light Studio wolf!!!

I have just received something that will for sure be one the greatest treasures I will ever own: an art wolf by Maryam Daneshvar of Eastern Light Studio. This is literally a dream come true, because already almost a year ago Maryam (whom I consider a dear friends by now after having known her a couple years through DeviantArt and Flickr already) released a pose-able art doll fox compatible with the 1/3 scale BJDs. I immediately started coveting one for myself, but with all the BJD orders on-going I wasn’t able to afford one right then and there. But now, my custom order Eurasian wolf with dark Amber eyes is home!!!

My wolf project already started in June and I’ve received step by step updates with photos from the making of my wolf over the past couple of months. It’s been an experiences as well as pleasure ordering from Maryam. My wolf’s skeleton is a sturdy iron wire armature. The head and the eyes in it has been sculpted by Maryam and white faux fur was used to create his fur, which was then painted. The wolf has been weighted so that he stands steadily and takes many kind of natural poses.

My parcel arrived yesterday and it was hands down one of the most wonderful parcels ever to arrive. Maryam had included two very special, extremely generous gifts for me: a fox rug stole for my 1/3-70cm BJD boys (yet unreleased in her store) and a bird skull necklace (of which there are now human scale and smaller BJD versions available in Maryam’s Etsy store).

There was a fine certificate of authenticity with a wax seal, a hand written letter from Maryam and her business card.

And at the bottom of the box was sleeping in the most endearing way, my wolf!!

I knew to expect my wolf to be a stunning work of art, but I was not prepared to be so completely and totally in love with this creation from the first moment. I’m absolutely blown away by the quality, the likeness and the sheer beauty of this wolf! His eyes, painted by Maryam, are like magic reflecting light in the most incredible ways giving him such a scope of expression, it’s amazing! He poses wonderfully, even if I’m yet quite timid at posing him and will need to learn how to “operate” him fluently.

I’m in fact so taken by my wolf here, that I have already reserved commission slots for 3 more animals: a black panther in the likeness of Guenhwyvar from R.A. Salvatore’s Drizzr novels, an Irish Setter for my British aristocrat BJDs and a cat for my holy grail girl, Little Monica Sophia. Maryam is already starting on my panther soon and I can hardly wait!!

I’m calling my wolf Noos, which is an ancient Greek term for “intellect” and “mind’s eye”. I think it suits him well and reflects the intelligent look in his eyes. I can almost feel a spark of life in him, he’s so realistic and “alive” in my photos.I already took some solo shots of Noos in my garden and he is a STAR! I can hardly wait to have him pose with my BJDs as well! What a treasure, is all I can say!! What a treasure!!!

I'll be adding more photos of Noos in the galleries soon as well as my Flickr, as well as of the amazing gifts Maryam sent! :)
